Alert1 is a medical alert system provider based in Williamsport, PA and has provided services to over 250,000 families across all 50 states since 1988. The company claims to be a trusted medical alert provider backed by thousands of doctor recommendations, certifications and compliances, along with decades of experience.

Equipment

Alert 1 Base System

Home System

The featured Medical Alert system comes with a “Peace-of-mind” (POM) base unit equipped with a two-way speaker and a portable waterproof call button in the form of a necklace or wristband. The basic system is available in a landline or wireless option. Both systems come with 24-hour back-up batteries, and necklace and wristband call buttons. Automatic fall detection is not included, but a fall detection pendant can be added onto the existing systems for an extra cost.

Kelsi Mobile Medical Alert System

The Kelsi system is a mobile option offered by Alert1. It uses the 3G AT&T network and GPS to connect with an operator anywhere the user is located. This pendant has a 30-day battery life, is shower proof, and can be worn as a pendant or belt attachment. The upgraded Kelsi Pro Mobile model includes automatic fall detection.

Additional equipment and accessories are available at extra costs, such as a key lockbox for emergency responders to access the home, a voice extender and extra call buttons to provide greater coverage in a large home, and a medication organizer with a reminder feature.

Monitoring

Alert1 offers nationwide monitoring, although they do not have in-house monitoring centers. All calls are outsourced to two fully TMA 5 Diamond Certified US-based Command Centers with multilingual support. When an operator answers a distress call, users can request emergency services or someone in their “Circle of Care” which is a contact list they can keep on file.

Pricing

Pricing ranges from $19.95 to $58.95 monthly with annual, semi-annual, and quarterly rates. Although there is no contract, these prices are secured with a prepaid subscription plan. Refunds are only available in the first 30 days.

Reputation

Alert1 has proven itself to be a reliable medical alert system provider. TMA-certified call centers ensure properly trained representatives are answering emergency calls.

Summary

Alert1 is an established medical alert provider in the industry. Their services are good for those needing standard in-home protection. We wouldn’t recommend Alert1’s mobile gps devices though due to old 3G cellular. In light of their refund policy, it’s a good idea to try out their equipment during the 30-day risk-free period before prepaying for a subscription.
