Based in Boca Raton, Florida, MobileHelp has grown to over 160 employees who respond to over 2,400 alarms each day.

MobileHelp is a hardware, equipment, and technology leader in the personal emergency response systems industry. In addition to providing its systems direct to consumers, MobileHelp’s equipment is used by other high-profile companies including ADT Security and LifeFone. As an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of products used by other providers, the company naturally stands out as one of the most trusted consumer brands in the industry.

Update: On 1 May, 2024, Medical Guardian announced that it has acquired MobileHelp. In a press release on the acquisition, Medical Guardian indicated that MobileHelp will continue to operate as an independent brand. However, as with any acquisition, it is unclear how this will change the hardware used by the company or its pricing. Read the official press release on the acquisition.

MobileHelp Overview

Very few medical alert companies design and manufacture their equipment in-house and MobileHelp is one of them. They offer a full suite of AT&T 3G cellular based systems and also white label their equipment for other brands. If you like the form factor of their equipment, you’re best bet is to go with MobileHelp.

Additionally, MobileHelp offers an in-home landline medical alert. Although hardwired landlines are starting to diminish in the US, it’s still the most reliable source of communication especially during a power outage. This is a great option for rural customers with spotty AT&T cellular coverage.

During our mystery shop, the sales rep was helpful and straight to the point. We also like that MobileHelp provides free ground shipping.

The biggest issue we had with MobileHelp Wired Home was the lack of automatic fall detection as an optional add-on feature. While the company offers this through another in-home system called the MobileHelp Classic, that system is considerably more expensive than MobileHelp Wired Home.

In conclusion, if you’re looking for the latest medical alert technology, MobileHelp is a highly recommended provider. Very good buying experience and a good choice of device options that will fit your loved one’s protection needs.

MobileHelp Micro

MobileHelp was a pioneer in mobile medical alert systems, being the first company to offer these systems nationwide.

The Micro is a water-resistant system that consists of a help button with a two-way speaker, charger, and lanyard.  It comes with a Customer Portal that includes a Caregiver Tracking feature to view the device’s current location.

MobileHelp saves you money by not charging an up-front fee for hardware. You pay only $39.95 for monthly monitoring, which is in the middle of the pack among the companies we tested. Automatic fall detection is available for an additional $11/month and does not require a separate button or lanyard.

Together these add up to a 1-year cost of ownership of $611.40, putting MobileHelp Micro’s price near the midpoint among the systems we tested.

Add-ons like activity tracking and medication reminders are available but can add $10-20 to the monthly cost. Furthermore, we found MobileHelp’s sales and support quality to be a step below that of the competition.

Device set-up was easy, and Micro’s operation was reliable.  In multiple tests, operators responded within 45 seconds.

Nonetheless, wee had some reservations about the company’s sales tactics, which were borderline aggressive. We also didn’t like that calling the sales team forces you to give permission to “call or text you about your inquiry, which may involve the use of automated dialing and prerecorded messages.”  We also hit some snags with the return process.
